Practice that follows your pregnancy

Pregnancy changes the body week by week, and a prenatal yoga class should change with it. Ours are built around your prakriti — the constitution you were born with — and around the trimester you are in, rather than around a fixed sequence everyone follows.

That is what the Ayurveda side of Ayushya Arogya brings to the mat. Dr. Saraswathi Bukka is a registered Ayurveda practitioner as well as a certified prenatal and postnatal yoga instructor, so the posture, the breathing and the food and routine advice are all shaped by the same reading of your body.

How it works

Online and Offline

Both run on the same timetable and cover the same material, so you can use whichever fits the week you are having.

Online Prenatal Yoga Classes

Live, not recorded — daily from 10:00 to 11:00 AM IST, and at 5:30 PM EST for students in the United States. Because the class is live, your posture can be seen and corrected for the trimester you are in. All you need is a mat, a clear stretch of wall for support and a quiet corner. Online suits the first trimester and the last few weeks, when travel is the part you would rather skip.

Offline Prenatal Yoga in Hyderabad

In person at #212, Second floor, Sherza Estate, NS Road, Abids, Hyderabad, Telangana 500012. Offline classes give you hands-on adjustment, props already set up, and the company of other expectant mothers going through the same months. Call +91 99518 95896 to arrange a visit or your first session.

Most students move between the two — online through the working week, the studio when the day allows it.

In the room

What a class includes

  • Asana — postures adapted to your trimester, keeping the hips, pelvis and lower back comfortable as the body changes shape
  • Pranayama — breathing that steadies the nervous system, and that becomes the tool you reach for during labour
  • Relaxation and meditation — for anxiety, for sleep, and for the emotional swing that comes with pregnancy
  • Garbha Sanskar — the traditional practice of nurturing the bond with your unborn baby through sound, breath and attention
  • Mudras — including Bhairava mudra, used in prenatal practice to balance the flow of energy during meditation
  • Ayurvedic guidance — food and daily routine according to your constitution, alongside the practice itself
Why practise

What prenatal yoga does

Drawn from what our students report and what the practice is understood to offer through pregnancy.

  • Maintains flexibility and strength as the body carries more weight
  • Keeps range of motion, so you stay active and comfortable
  • Improves balance and co-ordination, which helps you avoid falls
  • Reduces pain and stiffness, particularly in the back, hips and legs
  • Supports cardiovascular health, which matters for mother and baby
  • Lowers stress and anxiety, and steadies overall well-being
  • Lifts mood through the emotional changes of pregnancy
  • Sharpens focus and concentration, during and after
  • Improves sleep quality
  • Builds self-awareness and acceptance that carry into early motherhood

Prenatal yoga is a safe and effective way to look after physical and mental health through pregnancy. Please talk to your doctor about whether yoga is right for you before you begin, and tell us your trimester and any restriction when you book.

Preparing for birth

Getting ready for labour and delivery

  • Developing the strength and flexibility that labour and delivery ask for
  • Learning to breathe effectively, which helps manage pain during labour
  • Building relaxation techniques that reduce anxiety when it matters most
  • Growing a sense of calm and confidence in your ability to give birth
Every stage

Before conception, through pregnancy, after birth

Before conception — practice prepares a woman physically, emotionally and spiritually for conception, and many of our students begin while they are still planning.

Through pregnancy — the sequence changes as you do, trimester by trimester, with the props and support adjusted each time.

After birth — postnatal yoga tones the abdominal muscles and brings the body back into shape, helps prevent post-natal depression, balances emotions and improves overall well-being. It runs online and offline on the same timetable. See all our classes and services.

Questions

Prenatal Yoga Classes FAQs

Are your prenatal yoga classes online or offline?

Both, and you can use either in the same week. Live online prenatal yoga runs daily from 10:00 to 11:00 AM IST, with a 5:30 PM EST sitting for students in the United States. Offline classes are taught in person at our studio in Abids, Hyderabad.

How much space do I need for an online prenatal yoga class?

A mat's width, a clear stretch of wall to use for support and balance, and a quiet corner where you will not be interrupted for the hour. A cushion or bolster is useful in the later trimesters but is not essential.

Is offline prenatal yoga in Hyderabad better than online?

Neither is better, they suit different weeks. Offline gives you hands-on adjustment and the company of other expectant mothers. Online removes the travel, which matters in the first trimester and again near the end. Most of our students move between the two.

Do I need any yoga experience to start?

No. Classes are shaped around your constitution and your stage of pregnancy rather than around a fixed sequence, so beginners and long-time practitioners work side by side at their own level.

Can I join if I am not pregnant yet?

Yes. Practice before conception prepares the body physically, emotionally and spiritually, and many students begin while planning a pregnancy. Tell us that when you book and we will shape the sessions accordingly.

What happens after the baby arrives?

Our postnatal yoga classes pick up from there. They tone the abdominal muscles and help bring the body back into shape, help prevent post-natal depression, balance emotions and improve overall well-being. They run online and offline on the same timetable.

Who will be teaching me?

Dr. Saraswathi Bukka, BAMS, a qualified and registered practitioner in the Ayurvedic System of Medicine from Karnataka, certified and registered for over 15 years, a certified prenatal and postnatal yoga instructor and lead trainer on prenatal and postnatal teacher-training programmes.
